What happens when music intimates poetry, when speech joins instrument? When we consider poetry written to be sung, while accompanied by music? Musicians Ora Itkin (piano), Chris Kachian (guitar), and Thomas Schönberg (cello)will join Liza Michaeli (voice) to explore the echoes and evocations of this mysterious meeting originating in themes of longing, joy, love, passion, and struggle. Through the intimate, sometimes spontaneous, correspondence of music and poetic fragments, this program will bring us to witness and co-experience the primal and at once affective and afflictive impulses that are resonant with the very core of world traditions and our individual histories.
